Aobakwe Mametse

Aobakwe Mametse is an Associate in the Johannesburg office, practicing in the firm's Banking and Finance Law practice. He has extensive experience advising South African and international financiers, as well as borrowers, in respect of the funding and development of renewable energy projects and public-private partnerships.

Mr. Mametse has advised EDF Renewables on project documents related to the REIPPPP, Mulilo Renewable Energy as sponsors' and developers' legal advisor on preferred bidders in the RMIPPPP, and a multi-national consortium on the bankability of project agreements for the Kampala-Jinja Expressway in Uganda. He has also advised the International Finance Corporation on the construction of the Selebi-Phikwe PV Project in Botswana, Air Liquide on a 97.5MW long-term supply contract, and WBHO on a consortium bidding for the re-development of ports of entry in South Africa through a PPP. His role includes drafting and reviewing funding and project agreements, managing transaction deliverables, and providing ad hoc project finance legal advice.

Aobakwe holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
