Sipho Matjebe

Sipho Matjebe is an Associate in the Banking and Finance Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, syndicated finance, and debt capital markets. He advises lenders and borrowers on secured and syndicated finance, fund financing, structured finance, debt restructuring, and acquisition transactions, as well as the establishment of domestic medium-term note programmes and note issuances.

Sipho has advised a leading automotive group on a syndicated ZAR 7 billion revolving and term loan facility; The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited on a ZAR 2 billion sustainability-linked term loan facility to a large South African retailer; Investec Bank on a ZAR 1 billion sustainability-linked term loan facility; and a major industrial engineering group on acquisition financing facilities totaling ZAR 545 million. He has also advised on debt capital market transactions including the establishment of the New Development Bank ZAR 10 billion Note Programme, MTN's ZAR 2 billion note issuance, Transnet SOC Ltd's ZAR 8.8 billion and ZAR 6.2 billion note issuances, and the Zeda Financing Limited ZAR 5 billion Domestic Medium Term Note Programme.

Sipho holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), a Bachelor of Science with Honours, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
