Witness Makhubele

Witness Makhubele is an Executive in the Corporate Commercial practice at ENS, practicing in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions group. He specialises in corporate and commercial law, with a focus on takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets (including IPOs, JSE listings, rights offers, and capital raisings), schemes of arrangement, corporate restructuring, unbundling, shareholder arrangements, and joint ventures.

He advises on regulatory approvals and compliance with the JSE, Takeover Regulation Panel, South African Reserve Bank, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, and B-BBEE Commission. He is also an expert in B-BBEE advisory and compliance, including strategic planning, structuring, and implementing transactions in accordance with B-BBEE legislation. He has acted for major South African institutions including banks, mining companies, and state-owned entities on major local and cross-border transactions.

He holds a B Juris, an LLB, and an LLM from the University of the Witwatersrand, and is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Corporate Law and by The Legal 500 EMEA in Commercial, Corporate and M&A.
