Ukanyo Mabandla

Ukanyo Mabandla is a Senior Associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, mining and energy transactions, and equity capital markets. He advises clients on domestic and cross-border corporate transactions across a range of sectors.

Ukanyo has advised Harmony Gold Mining Limited on its acquisition of all of AngloGold Ashanti's South African assets and related liabilities, valued at approximately USD 300 million (Energy and Natural Resources Deal of the Year, African Legal Awards 2020); Linde GmbH and its subsidiaries on the sale of 60% of the issued shares of BOC Gases Nigeria PLC to TY Holdings Limited; Weir Minerals South Africa on the transfer of its South African operations and subsequent empowerment transaction valued at approximately ZAR 311 million; Datatec Limited on the IPO of its South American subsidiary, Logicalis Latin America, on the B3 stock exchange in Brazil; ABInBev on the unwinding of the SAB Zenzele BEE transaction and implementation of the new SAB Zenzele Kabili BEE structure; and Rio Tinto on the South African aspects of its sale of its equity interest in Zululand Anthracite Colliery to the Menar Holding Group.

Ukanyo holds a BCom (Law) and an LL.B from the University of Johannesburg.
