Shelagh Rule

Shelagh Rule is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in private equity transactional work, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, and migrations. She advises clients on complex corporate transactions, M&A, and private equity investments across various sectors.

Prior to joining Webber Wentzel in 2022, she worked for a global law firm in Luxembourg, where she completed three secondments to the EQT Group, a global investment organisation, working in the Private Equity Investment team as well as the Infrastructure and Real Assets Investment team. Her international experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of cross‑border M&A, private equity transactions, and corporate restructuring across multiple jurisdictions.

Shelagh holds an LL.M from the University of Edinburgh (2014), an LL.B (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand (2009), and a B.Com from the University of the Witwatersrand (2007). She is admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales, as an attorney in the State of New York, and as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She is a member of the African Venture Capital Association.
