Callie-Jo Bouman

Callie-Jo Bouman is a Senior Associate at DLA Piper in Johannesburg, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), with a focus on oil and gas, energy, and private equity transactions. She advises domestic and cross‑border M&A deals, asset and share acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, and commercial agreements for public and private clients across the energy, financial services, technology, and consumer goods sectors.

She has advised a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions on its acquisition of a multi‑jurisdictional ESG and sustainable finance advisory business with subsidiaries across South Africa, Kenya, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Morocco, and Egypt. She also coordinated and conducted a vendor due diligence on a renewable energy service provider with group companies across South Africa, Mauritius, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Namibia for the sale of its entire issued share capital. Prior to joining DLA Piper, she practised at a leading South African law firm where she specialised in M&A, private equity, and oil and gas.

Callie-Jo holds an LL.B (cum laude) from the University of Cape Town (2019) and a BCom in Financial Accounting from the University of Cape Town (2017). She is an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. She has presented on financial assistance under the Companies Act and the Insurance Act, and has published on the New Petroleum Bill.
