Rita Spalding is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in mining law, corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and restructurings in the mining industry. She has vast experience in conducting due diligence investigations, negotiating commercial transactions in various African jurisdictions, and advising on regulatory compliance with applicable legislation.

Her expertise extends to technically specialised drafting of commodity supply, mine development, infrastructure, and logistics agreements. She advises clients on complex mining transactions, including cross‑border investments, joint ventures, and regulatory compliance across the mining lifecycle. She is an active member of the South Africa‑Canada Chamber of Business Mining Working Group and the South African Women in Mining Association.
