Nomsa Mbere

Nomsa Mbere is a Partner specialising in Mining Law and resources, advising clients on a wide range of mining‑related commercial and regulatory matters. She focuses on corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and the sale and acquisition of mining assets such as prospecting and mining rights.

She advises on offtake agreements, contract mining arrangements, sale of concentrates, and logistics contracts, including freight rail, port handling, truck logistics, and infrastructure‑related agreements. Her deep understanding of the full mining value chain – from volume validation, exploration, and extraction through beneficiation to market evacuation – enables her to provide strategic legal advice on infrastructure planning, including road, rail, and port integration.

She also supports clients with socio‑economic development initiatives incorporating ESG considerations, including economic succession planning in the context of mine closures and the transition to sustainable practices. She advises on renewable energy projects, particularly captive power solutions, and contributes to the strategic focus on critical minerals and the green economy. She has authored articles on the “governance” aspect of ESG and has moderated, chaired, and spoken at mining and ESG conferences.

Nomsa holds an LLB from the University of South Africa (2005) and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
