Priyesh Daya

Priyesh Daya is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg and an expert in all aspects of dispute resolution, corporate and commercial litigation, and domestic and international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He advises private corporations, public and parastatal entities across numerous sectors including mining, oil and gas, financial services, telecommunications, and construction and engineering.

He was recently appointed as a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Court and is also a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He led the firm's Dispute Resolution team as Business Unit Head for seven years (2018–2024). He has conducted workshops, seminars, and presentations on construction‑related dispute resolution, the Companies Act, and the King Code on Corporate Governance. He developed and regularly lectures the Construction Dispute Resolution Course at the University of the Witwatersrand's School of Construction Economics and Management, and is a founding member of its Industry Advisory Board.

Priyesh holds a BA (1993) and LLB (1996) from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Diploma in Corporate Law (cum laude) from Rand Afrikaans University (1999), an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law (2001), a Higher Diploma in Tax Law (2002), a Certificate in Entertainment Law from the University of Johannesburg (2006), and certificates in Commercial Law Practice and Construction Contract Management. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has been ranked by Chambers Global (2022–2026), Best Lawyers (2018–2026), Legal 500 (2017–2024), and IFLR1000 (2014, 2016). He is Vice Chairperson of the International Arbitration Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).
