Nick Alp

Nick Alp is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in Dispute Resolution. He has significant expertise in class and group actions and mass tort litigation, having acted for clients in many of the most significant class action disputes in South Africa. He also has substantial experience in contractual disputes and general commercial litigation, with a particular focus on international and domestic arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

He is a member of the Management Committee of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa. In addition, Nick has developed a burgeoning reputation for business crimes and investigations. He has advised clients in many different sectors, and in particular, the mining and resources and telecommunications sectors, during which his practice has traversed many cross‑border and multi‑national disputes. He provides strategic legal counsel and representation across a broad spectrum of complex commercial disputes, delivering commercially focused legal solutions tailored to client needs.

Nick holds an LLB (1993) and a B.Com (1991) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He has been ranked by Chambers Global (2008‑2026), Best Lawyers (2015‑2026), Legal 500 (2012‑2025) (included in their Hall of Fame), and Who's Who Legal (2015‑2016) as a leading lawyer in Litigation.
