Leza Kotze

Leza Kotze is a Partner at Shepstone & Wylie's Johannesburg office, heading up both the Corporate & Commercial and Property & Conveyancing Departments. She specialises in corporate law, commercial transactions, and property law, advising on shareholders' agreements, share sale agreements, memoranda of incorporation, trust deeds, partnership agreements, joint venture agreements, and franchise agreements.

She has extensive experience in corporate restructuring to assist clients with compliance under the Broad‑Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, and has played active advisory roles in property commercial transactions including the development, sale, and lease of commercial premises, hotels, game farms, wind farms, biogas developments, mining operations land, and telecommunications infrastructure. She has also acted for landowners in land claims matters, drafting settlement, sale, and lease agreements. Her conveyancing experience includes township developments, sectional title and share block schemes, subdivisions, consolidations, and mortgage bonds for major banks. She also prepares notarial deeds including long‑term leases, notarial ties, cessions, and servitudes.

Leza holds a BA and LLB from the University of Stellenbosch, an LLM from UNISA, a Management Advancement Programme (MAP) certificate from Wits, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Drafting and Interpretation of Contracts (with distinction) from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). She is admitted as a Conveyancer and Notary Public, and is a member of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA). She has developed and facilitated corporate training programmes on commercial contract drafting, business law principles, conveyancing, and the law of sale and lease.
