Altair Richards

Altair Richards is an Executive at ENS in the Corporate Commercial practice. Her practice focuses on Corporate Law, specialising in healthcare and pharmaceutical law, the food and pet food industries, and food and advertising law.

Altair has considerable experience in mergers and acquisitions, including amalgamations, offers, sale of shares, sale of businesses, takeovers and managed and leveraged buyouts, as well as cross-border transactions and franchising. She also has experience in the transportation and rail engineering sectors.

She has acted for pharmaceutical manufacturers (innovator and generic human medicines and veterinary/animal health), medical device manufacturers, complementary medicine manufacturers, pharmaceutical distributors and wholesalers, retail pharmacy, industry and professional associations, medical schemes, administrators and managed healthcare organisations, hospitals, food and pet food manufacturers, and food packaging companies. She has also assisted clients with commercial transactions in the insurance industry and acted for multinational clients in the freight locomotive and local rail engineering industries.

Her experience includes general corporate and commercial drafting and negotiations, opinions, regulatory advice, updates on regulatory changes, Advertising Regulatory Board work and industry advocacy. She holds an LLB, cum laude, and a Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of South Africa. She was part of the ENS team awarded African Law Firm of the Year at the 2025 LMG Life Sciences Awards and is recognised by Best Lawyers for Corporate Law in South Africa.
