Pieter van der Merwe

Pieter van der Merwe is the Managing Partner of VDMA, specialising in corporate and commercial law, banking and financial institutions, private wealth, and real estate. He advises clients on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, real estate developments, and private wealth structuring across multiple sectors including agribusiness, financial services, real estate, consumer goods, and transport and logistics.

He is an astute businessman with over 20 years of experience in corporate and commercial law, providing strategic legal counsel on complex transactions, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance matters. He assists clients with M&A transactions, financing arrangements, property developments, and wealth management structures, delivering commercially focused legal solutions tailored to client needs.

Pieter holds a B.Proc Law degree from the University of the Free State and a Master of Laws degree from the University of South Africa. He is an admitted attorney, conveyancer, and notary of the High Court of South Africa.
