Kirith Haria

Kirith Haria is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation and Arbitration practice at Bowmans' Johannesburg office, advising clients in South Africa and internationally.

With a decade of experience in litigation, he resolves disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation. He acts for clients across the energy, transportation and petroleum sectors. Notable matters include acting for a major global car rental company in terminating a South African franchisee's licence and pursuing claims of ZAR 71 million; acting for minority shareholders against twenty-two respondents in a complex High Court application involving shareholder protections, breach of directors' duties and unlawful share transfers; litigating in the Commercial Court involving a global petroleum company in a dispute addressing contractual, petroleum, property and BEE issues; and defending a contractual claim in the energy sector of ZAR 700 million. He also advises on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, cross-border arbitration, and insolvency-related matters including claims against business rescue practitioners in the SAA and Comair business rescues.

Kirith holds an LL.B, an LL.M, a B.A., and an Honours in International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an attorney registered with the Legal Practice Council with right of appearance and a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
