Ernest Maboko

Ernest Maboko is a Partner at Bowmans' Johannesburg office, specializing in commercial property and property finance law, with expertise in property development, financing, and conveyancing.

He has extensive experience in secured lending, syndicated and bilateral finance, commercial property acquisitions and disposals, refinancing and restructuring, and bespoke development finance structures. He advises on structuring commercial property transactions, drafting development and acquisition facilities, security documents, commercial leases, and sale of business agreements involving immovable property, and is adept at preparing notarial deeds. Notable transactions include advising on a syndicated transaction valued at approximately R1.2 billion for a new luxury resort and game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, a bilateral transaction valued at around R2 billion for the further development of a shopping mall in Pretoria, and various property and general finance transactions across Africa.

Ernest holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of South Africa. He is an admitted conveyancer, notary and attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
