Julia Power

Julia Power is a Partner at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specializing in Real Estate Law. She is an experienced commercial property and property finance lawyer with expertise in property development, financing, and conveyancing, and has expanded her practice to advise key players in the data centre and renewable energy sectors.

Julia has advised Vantage Data Centers South Africa on the development of its first data centre in South Africa (a USD 1 billion project in Johannesburg), its second SA campus involving a 20MW data centre, and its third site in Cape Town. She has also advised NTT Global Data Centers EMEA GmbH on its first data centre in Johannesburg; Inditex (Zara Retail South Africa) on its South African expansion including flagship stores in Sandton City, Gateway, and the V&A Waterfront; and Massmart Holdings Limited on the development and leasing of distribution centres. She has acted for The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited on land aspects of financing for Scatec ASA's Kenhardt project (one of the world's largest hybrid solar and battery storage facilities) and other REIPPPP projects, and for a consortium on the De Aar 2 wind farm and Paarde Valley PV2 solar farm. She also advises West Property Fund, Growthpoint Healthcare Property Holdings, Old Mutual Life Assurance, and Puma Energy on various property and conveyancing transactions.

Julia holds a BCom and LL.B from the University of Cape Town and is an admitted conveyancer and attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
