Christoph Berndt

Christoph Berndt is a Senior Associate at DLA Piper in Johannesburg, specialising in tax law, mergers and acquisitions, and international tax. He advises on the tax structuring of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including share and asset deals and internal reorganisations, as well as tax-related warranty and indemnity insurance, VAT, exchange control, and international tax matters.

Christoph has advised Brockwell Capital, as the warranty and indemnity insurance underwriter, in respect of their underwrite process related to the sale of a specialist food packaging manufacturer; Unilever on a joint venture between CAVI Brands and Marga, whereby Marga invested in 60% of the South African licensed distributor of Dermalogica branded products; nCino on its USD 75 million acquisition of DocFox, a global end-to-end software solution provider; and EOH on its capital raising, comprising a renounceable rights offer and specific issue for cash to its BEE shareholder.

Christoph holds a BCom (Law) (2018), a BCom Honours (Taxation) (2020), and an LL.B (2020), all from the University of Pretoria.
