Duncan McAllister

Duncan McAllister is a Consultant at Webber Wentzel in the Johannesburg office, specialising in Tax Law. He has 40 years' experience in the tax field, including 35 years with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) across a variety of sections, including company audit, company assessing, law administration (objections and appeals), and the tax board, where he was responsible for all JSC and RSC levy rulings.

From July 2000, Duncan worked at SARS head office on drafting Capital Gains Tax (CGT) legislation, presenting CGT seminars nationwide, writing numerous guides and interpretation notes, and reviewing draft tax legislation. He also participated as an external committee member of the Advance Tax Rulings Section, provided input on objection and appeal matters, and served on the GAAR committee.

Duncan is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and holds an M.Com (Tax) from the University of Durban-Westville (2001), a B.Com (Hons in Tax) (1989), a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy from the University of Natal (1977), and a B.Com from the University of Natal (1976).
