Alexandra Amaler

Alexandra Amaler is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Investigations Department of the Sandton office and a member of the Litigation Practice at Bowmans, specialising in dispute resolution and commercial litigation. She has experience in arbitration, motion, and trial work, and provides assistance to clients in a variety of commercial disputes, including contractual disputes, realisation of security, and delictual claims.

Alexandra has assisted in the defence of a client in an international arbitration in which a telecommunications provider claimed ZAR 375 million arising from alleged breaches of a sale of shares agreement; assisted with an appeal to the Constitutional Court seeking damages against a defendant company responsible for the installation of certain software; assisted with the recovery of monies owing to a client arising from a breach of contract by seeking to enforce a guarantee and a foreign judgment in excess of USD 20 million; assisted with the recovery of damages incurred by a client following power outages arising from the burning down of a government-maintained electrical substation; and assisted with a pro bono matter in which an NGO is assisting clients whose identity documents have been blocked by the Department of Home Affairs.

Alexandra holds a BSocSci in Philosophy and International Relations from the University of Cape Town and an LL.B (magna cum laude) from the University of Cape Town, and has completed a short course in International Criminal Law at Case Western Reserve University.
