Zaid Bhayat

Zaid Bhayat is a Senior Associate at ENS in the Competition practice, specialising in Competition Law. He advises large local and multinational clients across a variety of industries, including logistics, energy, retail, banking, information technology, telecommunications, automobile, aviation and pharmaceuticals.

Zaid has experience in merger control across multiple African jurisdictions, including Angola, Botswana, CEMAC, COMESA, eSwatini, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. He also represents clients in complaint proceedings and advises on prohibited practices, including cartel conduct, restrictive vertical practices and abuse of dominance. He has written competition law articles for the EU Competition Law Review and has prepared headnotes for the Butterworths Competition Law Reports.

Zaid holds a BBusSci and an LL.B. from the University of Cape Town. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He is recognised by The Legal 500 EMEA as a leading lawyer for Competition (2025).
