Willie Coetzee

Willie Coetzee is a Consultant at Shepstone & Wylie in Durban, specialising in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, tax, competition law, and corporate governance. He advises major corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, share and business sales, taxation, company law, competition law, and strategic and restructuring issues within a commercial context.

He is a non‑executive director of Key Motor Group and other private companies, and formerly served as Governor and Chairperson of Highbury Preparatory School and Kearsney College, as well as a non‑executive director of a JSE‑listed company for approximately 20 years. He is an internationally accredited mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and is on the mediation panels of Tokisa Commercial and Equilore, and has acted as both an arbitrator and mediator in many commercial and labour disputes.

Willie holds a BCom and LLB from the University of Stellenbosch, a Higher Diploma in Tax from the University of KwaZulu‑Natal, and has completed the Senior Executive Programme at the London School of Business (2000) and Harvard School of Business (2006).
