Tori Herholdt

Tori Herholdt is a Partner at Bowmans' Cape Town office, practising in the firm's Dispute Resolution practice, focusing on domestic and international arbitration and litigation.

She advises primarily on contractual and other commercial disputes for large corporates, and has particular expertise in auditor liability and regulatory matters affecting the auditing and accounting profession. She has been involved in numerous large local and international arbitrations and high-profile High Court matters, including proceedings before the Commercial Court, and is experienced in guiding clients through mediation. Her arbitration experience includes proceedings under the rules of the ICC, UNCITRAL and AFSA. Notable matters include advising a major industrial gas manufacturer in High Court proceedings claiming approximately R370 million against nine provincial Departments of Health; acting for a listed mining company in breach of contract proceedings for $195 million in the Tanzanian High Court; advising a large firm of registered auditors in contractual and delictual actions including an almost R1 billion claim; representing a listed mining company in UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings and subsequent enforcement; and acting for a mobile communications company in urgent review applications involving ICASA spectrum licensing.

Tori holds BA and LL.B degrees from the University of Cape Town. She is fluent in English.
