Tony Lee

Tony Lee is an Executive at ENS in the Corporate Commercial practice. His practice focuses on Mergers and Acquisitions, specialising in public and private M&A (buy/sell side), takeovers, corporate restructuring and re-organisations, corporate finance and private equity.

Tony has a strong corporate commercial legal acumen, bringing a solid track record of working on and executing various public and private M&A transactions and other commercial-driven legal projects, including having acted for a number of public (listed and unlisted) companies and private companies, both local and offshore.

In the private equity sphere, Tony has deep expertise in all aspects of private equity, including legal due diligence in anticipation of acquisitions by PE funds of portfolio companies, portfolio and investment structuring, regulatory approvals, management incentives, recapitalisations following altered investment horizons or other changed circumstances, disposal of portfolio companies, IPOs and other exit strategies.

He is known for his technical skills, client-focused commercial approach and his ability to lead large and complex M&A and private equity transactions. He has advised a number of public and private companies as well as private equity funds on significant strategic transactions spanning a broad range of sectors, including consumer, agribusiness, mining, mining services, financial services, industrial and manufacturing.

He holds a BA in Law and Humanities and an LLB (Dean's Merit List) from the University of Cape Town, a Diploma in Corporate Law (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg, and various certificates including in Prospecting and Mining Law, Advanced Company Law I and II, and the Advanced Programme in Private Equity from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He is recognised by Best Lawyers for Corporate and by The Legal 500 EMEA for Commercial, Corporate and M&A in South Africa.
