Siyanda Mtwebana

Siyanda Mtwebana is an Associate at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, acquisition finance, leveraged finance, and real estate finance. He acts for both lenders and borrowers in domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including general corporate lending and project finance.

Siyanda has advised on significant transactions including the USD 500 million and ZAR 5 billion financing to Anglo American Platinum Limited (now Valterra Platinum Limited) related to its demerger from Anglo American Plc; Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A., Investec Bank Limited and a syndicate of South African and international lenders on the USD 200 million facilities advanced to CRDB Bank Plc; Stanbic Bank Uganda on the USD 36 million financing of a Ugandan pharmaceutical company's new plant development; Investec Bank Limited, Nedbank Limited, Rand Merchant Bank and The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited on the ZAR 4 billion facilities provided to Actom Proprietary Limited; Ninety One and The Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund on the first international debt raise for Paratus Group; and Absa Bank Limited and Rand Merchant Bank on the financing of the 97.5MWac Solar PV Project developed by Mainstream Renewable Power. He has also advised on real estate funding transactions in Nigeria and advised the South African Reserve Bank on regulatory matters.

Siyanda holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) (2022) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Cum Laude) (2015) from the University of the Western Cape, a Postgraduate Certificate in Risk, Compliance and Governance from the University of the Witwatersrand (2017), and completed his Practical Vocational Training at PVT School for Legal Practice (2022). He is an admitted Attorney and Notary of the High Court of South Africa.
