Roné la Grange

Roné la Grange is a Partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the Tax Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in tax advisory law, corporate tax, and financial services tax. She has over 20 years of corporate tax experience, with significant involvement in banking, insurance, private equity, collective investment schemes, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, property funds, and treasury operations.

Roné advises on a wide range of corporate tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, B-BBEE transactions, group restructures, management buy-outs, debt restructuring, private equity fund structures, employee equity incentives, finance and investment structures. She has conducted numerous buy‑side and vendor tax due diligences, obtained tax rulings, and handled objections, appeals, and settlement negotiations with the South African Revenue Service. Notable transactions include advising on the delisting of Afrox from the JSE, the formation of a combined financial services investment structure for two listed groups, and the recapitalisation and restructuring of a hospitality group following the raising of new debt. She has also advised on cross-border debt restructurings, the set‑up and refinancing of renewable energy project companies, and the introduction of black economic empowerment structures for clients including Bell Equipment.

Roné holds BLC and LL.B (both cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, an LL.M in Tax from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Diploma in Company Law from the University of Johannesburg, and a Diploma in Financial Markets from the University of Johannesburg.

She is ranked in Band 3 for Tax by Chambers Global (2026) and is described by clients as "quick to respond to client matters with professionalism and a technical skill set that is beyond reproach".
