Rashaad Carrim

Rashaad Carrim is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law with extensive experience in specialised commercial property finance, mine development and commodity resource funding (including streams and commodity prepayments), syndicated lending, acquisition and leveraged finance, and general banking and debt finance.

He has been instrumental in structuring innovative financing arrangements for local and multinational listed and unlisted companies, mining houses, multinational commodity traders, and listed and unlisted property holding companies and REITs, across both domestic and cross‑border transactions. He has a particular focus on property funding and funding transactions in the mining space, and has also represented banks and borrowers on sustainability‑linked funding transactions.

Rashaad holds an LLB (2006) and a B.Com (2003) from the University of Pretoria, an AIPSA Diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice from the University of Pretoria (2003), a Higher Diploma in Advanced Company Law I and II from the University of the Witwatersrand (2009), a Certificate in Islamic Finance Engineering (Terrapinn, 2009), and a Certificate in Structured Trade & Commodity Finance (EuroMoney Training EMEA, 2010). He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has been recognised as a leading individual by Best Lawyers (2021‑2026) and as a legal expert by Legal 500 (2022, 2025).
