Kathy Shepherd

Kathy Shepherd is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law. She has extensive experience in general banking and debt finance, syndicated lending, commercial property finance, acquisition and leveraged finance, preference share structures, black economic empowerment (B‑BBEE) finance structures, and related security structures.

She has been involved in financing arrangements for a number of listed companies and their subsidiaries, acting on behalf of both borrowers and lenders across a wide range of complex domestic and cross‑border transactions. She provides strategic advice on structuring, negotiating, and documenting sophisticated financing solutions across various sectors.

Kathy holds an LLB (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand (1992) and a BA (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand (1990). She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She has been consistently ranked by Chambers Global (2010–2026), Best Lawyers (2018–2026), Legal 500 (2012–2025), and IFLR1000 (2011, 2022).
