Mothobi Moeletsane

Mothobi Moeletsane is a Senior Associate in the Banking and Finance Department at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in banking and finance law, project finance, and debt capital markets. He advises lenders and borrowers on secured and syndicated finance, structured finance, project finance, preference share funding, acquisition and real estate finance transactions, as well as the establishment of domestic medium-term note programmes and note issuances.

Mothobi has advised The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd and FirstRand Bank Ltd on a syndicated ZAR 4 billion facility made available to Seriti Power for the reorganisation of the Seriti Group and establishment of its green energy company; Absa Bank Ltd on a ZAR 200 million term facility and ZAR 50 million revolving credit facility to UMS Investment Holdings and Unitrade Management Services; The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd on a USD 60 million loan facility advanced to Meridiam Africa Investments for the acquisition of Kipeto Energy PLC, the second largest operating wind power project in Kenya; Absa Bank Ltd on a USD 30 million revolving loan facility advanced to Leapfrog Climate Fund for its investments in companies combatting climate change in Africa and Asia; Stanbic Bank Zambia and The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd on a USD 55.5 million facilities agreement with Africa GreenCo Group to finance power imports and alleviate Zambia's energy crisis; and Toyota Financial Services South Africa and Barloworld Limited on note issuances of ZAR 1 billion each.

Mothobi holds a BCom (Law) and an LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
