Anton Barnes-Webb

Anton Barnes-Webb is the Senior Banking and Finance Partner in the firm's Johannesburg office, practicing in Banking and Finance Law. He is head of Bowmans' Africa-wide Infrastructure Sector Group and specializes in project and other financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He advises lenders, borrowers, sponsors, and shareholders on large-scale renewable energy projects, bio-ethanol production projects, and public infrastructure developments involving public-private partnerships.

Mr. Barnes-Webb has advised the IPP Office of the South African Department of Energy on the Grand Inga Hydroelectric project, acted as lead counsel to the consortium awarded preferred bidder status for the City of Tshwane metropolitan office accommodation PPP, and served as South African counsel to the mandated lead arrangers and lenders for the Gautrain Rapid Link Project. He has also advised lenders on financing for the Walvis Bay LNG-to-power project in Namibia and numerous projects under South Africa's renewable energy programme, and has acted on financings across Botswana, Namibia, and other African jurisdictions.

He holds an LLM from Cambridge University and BCom and LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
