Michael Denenga is a Partner at Webber Wentzel in Johannesburg, specialising in Banking and Finance Law with a focus on investment funds and cross‑border transactions. He advises on the full lifecycle of fund formation and operation, with particular expertise in Africa‑focused investment platforms, including the establishment of investment funds, structuring of cross‑jurisdictional vehicles, and fund finance arrangements for private equity sponsors.

He regularly acts as lead international counsel on multi‑jurisdictional fund formations, coordinating legal input across multiple territories, including recent work on the Virunga Africa Fund spanning the Cayman Islands, Mauritius, Rwanda, and South Africa. He advises a broad range of stakeholders across the investment funds ecosystem and is a member of the firm’s Africa Coordination Committee.
