Matshepo Banda

Matshepo Banda is a Forensic Investigator in the Corporate Investigations Practice at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specialising in compliance law and forensic investigations. She joined the firm in 2025 and focuses on fraud detection, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with procurement processes.

Matshepo has experience in public sector investigations, having worked at the Special Investigating Unit where she was involved in national investigations. Her responsibilities have included analysing bank statements and financial records to identify fraudulent or corrupt payments, performing lifestyle audits on state procurement officials, conducting money flow analysis to trace state funds, and quantifying losses suffered by state entities for civil recovery purposes. She has also interviewed whistleblowers and performed cost analysis on service provider charges to identify fruitless and wasteful expenditure.

Matshepo holds a BCom and a BCom Honours in Forensic Accountancy from North‑West University. She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
