Mark Garden

Mark Garden is a Partner in the Johannesburg office, specialising in Competition Law. He has extensive experience in all aspects of competition regulation across South Africa and the broader African continent, including cartel conduct and leniency applications, vertical relationships and abuse of dominance, as well as merger regulation, transaction structuring, hostile takeovers and negotiating conditions.

Mark is a regular speaker at antitrust conferences and client seminars, and lectures post-graduate students on competition law. He frequently contributes to local and international legal publications. He holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge (2003), an LL.B. and a B.A. from the University of the Witwatersrand (1999, 1998), and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He is ranked by Chambers Global (2015–2026), named as a leading lawyer by Best Lawyers (2016–2026), The Legal 500 (2016–2025) and IFLR1000 (2015–2023), and recognised as an expert in Competition law by Who's Who Legal (2015, 2019).
