Lucia Selaelo

Lucia Selaelo is a Senior Associate specialising in infrastructure law and project finance. She has extensive experience in the development, financing, and implementation of renewable energy and infrastructure projects across South Africa and the broader African region, with a strong focus on the construction and operation of solar, wind, and battery storage facilities.

She has advised Enel Green Power on bids for solar/wind plus battery projects under the Government of South Africa Risk Mitigation IPP Procurement Programme (RMIPPPP), and Rand Merchant Bank on the Oya Energy Hybrid Project, a preferred bidder in the RMIPPPP. She also advised Rand Merchant Bank on the financing of two wind and one solar PV facility that will supply electricity to Sibanye Stillwater under a 15‑year power purchase agreement. She has advised Samancor Chrome on the procurement of an IPP for renewable energy facilities on an onsite and wheeling basis, Melrose Arch on the development of a tri‑generation plant, Vaal Gamagara on the refurbishment and upgrade of the Vaal Gamagara Water Supply Scheme, and Raxio Group on the development and construction of data centres in South Africa, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Côte d'Ivoire.

Lucia holds an LL.B from the University of Johannesburg. She is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
