Judd Lurie

Judd Lurie is a Partner at Bowmans in Johannesburg, specializing in Competition Law. He is a trusted expert in pan‑African competition law, regularly handling complex transactions and matters across the continent, including South Africa, Botswana, COMESA, eSwatini, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Judd has worked on some of the most significant transactions on the continent, including advising Ardagh Glass on its acquisition of Consol Glass; Imperial Logistics on Dubai World's ZAR 12 billion acquisition; PepsiCo Inc. on its acquisition of Pioneer Foods for approximately USD 1.7 billion; and Bombardier Inc. on the sale of its railroad business to Alstom SA. He has also advised Aton GmbH in a hostile takeover of Murray & Roberts Ltd., setting notable precedent. He has experience in prohibited practices, leniency applications, market inquiries, and compliance reviews, and has been involved in the Competition Commission's online intermediation platforms market inquiry and the first dawn raid conducted in Namibia.

He holds a BA and LL.B and has authored articles for local and international publications.
