Johan Loubser

Johan Loubser is an Executive at ENS in the Banking and Finance practice. His practice focuses on Banking and Finance Law.

He has extensive experience advising on registered and unregistered investment funds; investment mandates; financial services and insurance regulation; and South African and cross-border finance transactions. Johan has deep expertise in fund formation and regulatory advisory work for private equity and venture capital funds.

Representative recent matters in his practice include advising on private equity, property, infrastructure and debt funds; advising on investment mandates and related services; advising on regulatory and registration issues affecting asset and wealth managers, brokers, insurers, pension funds, collective investment schemes, hedge funds, custodians and fintech firms; representing borrowers and lenders in debt transactions; representing issuers and subscribers in preference share funding transactions; advising pension funds on prudential investment limits and outsourcing transactions to insurers; and advising insurers on regulatory matters and the transfer of insurance business.

He holds a BCom (Cum Laude) and an LLB (Cum Laude) from Stellenbosch University, a BCL and an MSt from the University of Oxford, and is admitted as an attorney and notary public of the High Court of South Africa. He is recognised by The Legal 500 EMEA for Investment Funds and by Best Lawyers for Banking and Finance and Private Equity in South Africa.
