Irvin Lawrence

Irvin Lawrence is an Executive at ENS in the Employment practice, specializing in employment, administrative and constitutional law.

He has litigated for corporate clients, multi-nationals, state departments and parastatals, and has acted for a number of employer organisations, bargaining councils and retirement funds. He has particular expertise in employment within manufacturing industries including the Sugar Industry, Paper & Pulp Industry and Motor Industry, as well as employment and administrative law in the Maritime & Shipping Industry and Sports Law. He has appeared in the High Court, the Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court, and has extensive experience advising on collective labour law, restraint of trade agreements, retirement fund structuring and disputes, and corporate reorganisations and business transfers.

He holds a BA and LL.B from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an LL.M in corporate law from the University of South Africa. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He has served as a Commissioner and Deputy Chairperson of the South African Law Reform Commission and as an Acting Judge of the Labour Court of South Africa, and was appointed as an Arbitrator to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland (2003–2006).
