Hope Mboweni

Hope Mboweni is a Senior Associate at Shepstone & Wylie's Durban office, specialising in employment law and pension law. He chairs disciplinary and incapacity hearings, assists with grievance hearings and investigations, and reviews and drafts employment contracts and policies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

He represents clients at the Labour Court, Labour Appeal Court, CCMA, and various Bargaining Councils on matters relating to strikes, organisational rights, unfair labour practices, unfair dismissals, unfair discrimination, incompatibility, and retrenchments. He also appears in the Magistrate’s Court. He provides legal advice on the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, the Protection of Personal Information Act, the Employment Equity Act, the Pension Funds Act, and the interpretation of collective agreements and fund rules. He also assists in pension law matters in the High Court, the Pension Funds Adjudicator, and the Financial Services Tribunal.

Hope holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of KwaZulu‑Natal (UKZN).
