Elan Dekel

Elan Dekel is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department at Bowmans in the Johannesburg office, specialising in Dispute Resolution. He has a broad range of experience in commercial and contractual disputes, class action litigation, international commercial arbitrations, defamation proceedings, insolvency inquiries, electoral law, and delictual damage claims.

Elan has represented large multinational clients in class action lawsuits, worked with the Independent Electoral Commission on various electoral law issues, and advised major corporations on public and administrative law matters, including guiding international social media companies on access to information requests. His recent experience includes acting for an international mining company in class action certification proceedings, representing a large multinational telecommunications company in appeal proceedings under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, and acting for a large financial institution in international arbitration proceedings.

Elan holds a BSocSci and an LL.B. (cum laude) from the University of Cape Town. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
