Craig Shapiro

Craig Shapiro is an Executive in the firm's Intellectual Property & Innovation practice at ENS, practicing in Intellectual Property Law. He is a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law and a recognised leader in the field of IP commercialisation, delivering strategic legal and commercial advice across the full spectrum of intellectual property transactions.

Mr. Shapiro's expertise includes the structuring and negotiation of complex IP agreements, conducting IP due diligence investigations, and advising on the acquisition, management, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. He has served as General Counsel at a publicly listed company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, equipping him with a unique perspective on the intersection of IP and business strategy.

He has advised a diverse client base—from innovative SMEs to globally recognised multinationals—across sectors including technology, media, retail, and manufacturing. His approach is pragmatic, commercially focused, and tailored to enabling business growth through effective IP strategy.

Craig holds a BCom (Law) and an LLB from the University of Johannesburg, a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Company Law from the University of the Witwatersrand, and is a registered Trade Mark Practitioner and a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law. He is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
