Janine Thomas

Janine Thomas is an Executive in the firm's Intellectual Property & Innovation practice at ENS, practicing in Intellectual Property Law. She specialises in commercial IP, providing strategic advice, drafting and negotiating IP agreements, and advising on commercial agreements and transactions with IP implications.

Ms. Thomas has extensive experience in IP both locally and internationally, having spent years practising in IP firms and managing the global IP portfolio of one of Africa's largest financial services corporates as in-house counsel. She advises on the protection, enforcement, maintenance, and exploitation of IP rights, and has experience in matters before the Advertising Regulatory Board. She is a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law and a qualified Trade Mark Practitioner.

She holds an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Post Graduate Certificate in Competition Law from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Janine has been recognized by The Legal 500 EMEA as a Key Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law (2025-2026).
