Gaelyn Scott

Gaelyn Scott is an Executive at ENS and Head of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Innovation practice, specialising in intellectual property law. She focuses on strategic brand and portfolio management, and the enforcement of intellectual property rights, both locally and internationally, with extensive experience across Africa.

She has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution relating to IP rights, including trade mark infringement, passing‑off, unlawful competition, trade mark oppositions and cancellations, copyright litigation, franchising and licensing disputes, corporate name and domain name objections, and Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) complaints. She is a leading expert in the ARB and advertising field in South Africa. She manages several large worldwide trade mark portfolios, serves as an adjudicator on the SAIIPL domain name dispute panel, and has been published widely in her field.

She holds a BA and LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand and is admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She is a member of LES, INTA, ECTA, SAIIPL, and MARQUES, and is recognised as a leading practitioner by Chambers Global, The Legal 500 EMEA (Leading Partner), World Trademark Review, Managing IP (Top 250 Women in IP, Practitioner of the Year: South Africa 2023), and Best Lawyers®.
