Craig Saven

Craig Saven is an Executive and Head of the Banking and Finance practice at ENS, specialising in Banking and Finance Law. He focuses on cross-border and structured trade and commodity finance, with particular expertise in emerging markets, and also advises on general corporate financings.

Craig has advised major international banks, South African banks, development finance institutions and borrowers across the mining, telecommunications, tourism, hotels and soft commodity sectors. His experience includes borrowing base facilities, pre‑export finance, post‑shipment advances, receivables financing, syndicated loans and distressed debt arrangements. He has twice been lead adviser on structured trade and commodity financing deals awarded Deal of the Year by Global Trade Review and is a regular speaker at Loan Market Association conferences across Africa.

Craig holds a BBusSc (Honours) from the University of Cape Town, an LL.B. from City University, London, and an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales and a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

He is consistently recognised by The Legal 500, Chambers Global, Best Lawyers and IFLR1000 as a leading lawyer in Banking and Finance.
