Claudia Jackson

Claudia Jackson is a Partner in the firm's Insurance Law practice, based in the Johannesburg office. She has extensive experience in complex, multijurisdictional insurance-related disputes, with a particular focus on financial lines, catastrophe and aviation insurance, advising insurers, reinsurers and corporate insureds across South Africa, Africa and offshore jurisdictions.

Ms. Jackson advises on coverage, subrogated recoveries and defences, and regulatory compliance, with a significant portion of her instructions emanating from the Lloyds and South African aviation insurance markets. She has represented insurers and reinsurers in matters involving Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana, and other African jurisdictions, often involving novel legal issues and cross-border litigation. She also advises on aviation-related disputes, including maintenance and product defect claims, and has represented the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa. She has additionally advised on restructurings and insolvency proceedings, as well as regulatory enforcement actions in Bermuda.

She holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand, an LLM and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Dispute Resolution from the University of London, as well as Bachelor and Masters degrees in Arts from Cambridge University. She has been ranked by Chambers Global and Legal 500 as a leading insurance practitioner, with clients describing her as providing "excellent and significant commercial advice" and "world-class expertise."
