Erwyn Durman

Erwyn Durman is a Partner based in Johannesburg. His primary practice area is Insurance Law, and he specialises in risk advisory and dispute resolution, with a track record in insurance litigation, commercial litigation, administrative and insurance law.

He regularly advises major players in the local and international insurance and reinsurance market. He has managed disputes on behalf of insurers, insureds, reinsurers, brokers and corporate clients regarding coverage issues and other insurance-related issues arising from various insurance policies and insurance treaties.

He has provided expert insurance and reinsurance law advice throughout Africa, including in Ethiopia, Namibia, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Mauritius and Mozambique.

His recognition includes being named by Best Lawyers 2026 as a leading individual and by Legal 500 2025 as a legal expert.

He holds an LLB from the University of Pretoria (2015) and a BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of Pretoria (2012). He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
