Chantél van Zyl

Chantél van Zyl is a Consultant in the firm's Banking and Finance Law and Project Finance practice, based in the Cape Town office. She advises on a broad range of debt finance products on domestic and cross-border transactions, including corporate lending, trade finance, leveraged finance, development agency finance, infrastructure finance, real estate finance, and debt restructurings, working with major international and domestic clients including commercial and investment banks, development finance agencies, investors, and private and public companies.

Ms. van Zyl has advised on numerous complex debt transactions across Europe and the African continent, representing clients in the mining, infrastructure, financial services, pharmaceutical, real estate, energy, and consumer goods industries. Notable matters include advising the M-KOPA group across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Ghana on USD 202 million receivables-based syndicated credit facilities (IFLR Africa Southern Africa Loan Deal of the Year 2024), advising Aspen Pharmacare Group on a EUR 600 million term loan facility with IFC, DEG, Proparco, and DFC, advising Sibanye Stillwater on the refinancing of its USD 600 million and ZAR 5.5 billion syndicated revolving credit facilities, and advising Impala Platinum on a USD 758 million acquisition financing.

She holds BAcc and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch (2011) and completed the International Summer Programme in International Commercial Law at Bucerius Law School in Germany (2010). She was awarded the IFLR Africa Rising Star Award – National Practice in 2024.
