Carryn Alexander

Carryn Alexander is a Partner in the Cape Town office, specialising in Tax Law. She is a seasoned tax specialist with deep expertise in tax dispute resolution and controversy management, having played a pivotal role in litigating and settling significant tax disputes on behalf of multinational enterprises across various African jurisdictions.

Carryn's practice spans a broad spectrum of corporate income tax matters, including transfer pricing, employees' tax (PAYE), and mining and mining royalty tax. She also has extensive experience in indirect tax and international trade, advising clients on customs and excise, VAT, and transfer pricing implications of cross-border transactions. She regularly advises on the design and implementation of robust tax frameworks with a focus on offshore structures, and supports clients in regularising their tax affairs with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), including voluntary disclosure applications, objections, appeals and applications for remission of penalties and interest.

Carryn holds an LL.M. in Tax Law (2017) from the University of Cape Town, an LL.B. (2013) and a B.Com (Law) (2011) from the University of the Western Cape. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
