Ashleigh Hale

Ashleigh Hale is a Partner in the Johannesburg office, practicing in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate practice. She is a member of the firm's Management Board and is renowned for her strong project management and execution skills in handling complex cross-border M&A transactions, B-BBEE structuring, solvent restructurings, joint ventures, and corporate governance across Africa.

Ms. Hale has advised on numerous significant transactions across multiple African jurisdictions, including advising Minara on its acquisition of approximately 1,400 towers from Airtel in Tanzania, advising WSP Group Africa on its merger with Golder Associates, advising CNH Industrial on its acquisition of capital equipment businesses from Invicta Holdings, and advising Epiroc South Africa on its acquisition of the New Concept Mining group (with operations in South Africa, Zambia, Peru, Chile, and Canada). She has also advised Capitalworks on its acquisition of Aon's shareholding in 10 employee benefit, insurance, and reinsurance brokerage operations across Angola, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, and advised Marriott International on its acquisition of the Protea Hotel group with hotels across Africa.

She holds a BA and LLB from the University of Cape Town and is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

She has been ranked by Legal 500 as a Leading Individual for Commercial, Corporate and M&A (2023-2024) and by IFLR1000 as a Highly Regarded Lawyer for M&A for eight consecutive years (2018-2025).
