Tamara Dini

Tamara Dini is the Co-Head of the Competition practice at Bowmans' Cape Town office, leading a team across South Africa, Kenya, Mauritius, Tanzania and Zambia. She advises on merger control, vertical and horizontal restrictive practices, abuse of dominance, behavioural investigations and competition compliance across multiple African jurisdictions.

She has advised clients in respect of merger control in Botswana, CEMAC, COMESA, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and has represented clients in behavioural investigations before competition authorities in COMESA, Namibia, South Africa and Botswana. Notable matters include advising Hitachi Rail on its EUR 1.66 billion acquisition of Thales' Ground Transportation Systems Business; advising Vitol Group on African competition aspects of the acquisition of Vivo Energy; advising London Stock Exchange Group on the acquisition of Refinitiv; advising Elanco Animal Health on its acquisition of Bayer's animal health business; and advising AB InBev on the USD 102 billion SABMiller transaction, which won Global Competition Review's Deal of the Year 2017.

Tamara holds BA, LL.B and LL.M degrees from the University of Cape Town. She is a member of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section and served as Co-Chair of the International Antitrust Law Committee of the ABA International Law Section for 2023–2024.
