Stuart Roux

Stuart Roux is an Associate Partner at VDMA LAW, specialising in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), renewable energy, and technology. He advises multinational clients on inbound investments into Africa, with particular focus on M&A transactions across the financial services, agriculture insurance, energy and renewables, fintech, and telecommunications, media and technology sectors.

He has extensive experience in advising on renewable energy transactions, including solar and wind projects, on behalf of generators, off‑takers, and aggregators. He assists clients with cross‑border M&A transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate structuring, and commercial negotiations, delivering commercially focused legal solutions across diverse African jurisdictions.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws in Commercial and Insurance Law (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg, where he was awarded the Chancellor’s Medal for Top Achieving Masters Student and the Spoor & Fisher Award for the Best Masters Dissertation. He also holds a Post‑Graduate Certificate in Climate Change and Energy Law from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Certificate in Financial Technology Law from the University of Hong Kong. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
