Rowan Forster

Rowan Forster is an Executive at ENS in the Intellectual Property & Innovation practice, specialising in patent and design filing and prosecution, patent and design litigation, and strategic trade mark advice.

He is a qualified patent attorney and founded the firm's patents practice, which he heads. He manages the patent portfolios of numerous domestic and foreign companies, ensuring high-quality drafting and prosecution of domestic, international and foreign national patent applications. On the trade mark front, he conducts critical evaluations of trade mark portfolios for clients ranging from small businesses to listed and multinational companies. His background in chemistry, combined with over two decades of experience, enables him to offer practical commercial advice on clients' overall IP portfolios.

Rowan holds a BSc (Honours) in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a BProc from the University of South Africa. He is a registered patent attorney and an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He is recognised by Chambers Global, The Legal 500 EMEA, Managing IP, World Trademark Review, IAM Patent 1000 and Best Lawyers® for his intellectual property expertise. He is a Fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL) and a member of LES, INTA, AIPPI and the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG).
